Happy 4th of July! Yesterday.
Ethan celebrated the 4th by
a.) eating McDonald’s breakfast
b.) totally believing mom was going to buy those blue-filling Oreos and not noticing when she put them back on a shelf in the bread aisle after he got distracted 10 minutes later. (and voila! Out of sight out of mind. They remain forgotten)
c.) playing with his cars, trucks, and airplanes
d.) wrestling with the dog
e.) taking a 3 hour nap
f.) going with mommy and daddy to watch Transformers and standing on his seat every time there was an explosion and yelling “OH WHOA WOW THEY SHOOT HIM WHOA WHOA!”
g.) eating a huge bag of movie theater popcorn by himself
h.) drinking a whole pop
i.) streaking with his little buddy next door (apparently they both decided naked was the way to swim)
j.) riding his bike
k.) watching fireworks with his neighbor buddies
l.) eating blackberry pie
m.) THROWING UP ALL NIGHT LONG FROM 10:00PM TO 6:30AM

Well guess what
I forgot that being pregnant causes me to be able to smell even the faintest whiff of anything unpleasant.
Right now my entire house smells like wet dog to me, and no one else can smell it. We even just shampooed our carpets on Tuesday, and I still smell it. I've febreezed everything, including my clothes, and I still smell it. I'm beginning to think I may have to just live with it.
Oh and also....I want to name the baby Rhys. Rhys Julien.
What?

My son of the overactive pituitary.
Well yesterday I had to take him to Target to buy a WHOLE NEW WARDROBE, because he now wears a 5T!!
Yes. He went from a 3T to a 5T in roughly 40 days. FORTY DAYS.
Yeah, he spent July 2007- Nov 2008 just trying to move from a 2T to a 3T, then......I guess Santa gave him a stocking full of growth hormones.
Also he's really heavy.

OKAY BRIAN
It was a little out of the blue. We had planned to buy a CAR in January, however, with the current economy, we feared that getting a loan at a good interest rate would be difficult.
HOWEVER, a friend from church who sells cars mentioned that he's never seen new car prices so low, and so we called him yesterday to say "hey how low are truck prices?" because Ben has been desperately needing a truck to finish the basement, and borrowing a truck is inconvenient and only for a few hours at a time, and he needs it way more than that. Basically we really needed a truck. We had planned to just buy an old truck, however, i shall continue my story. So our friend says "well actually we have a 2006 trade-in with 5000 miles on it, i can give it to you for only$10k." So we went and looked at it, he offered us an amazing interest rate, and an excellent monthly payment, we found it wouldn't raise our insurance more than a few dollars a month, it got excellent gas mileage, it's an excellent pick-up, beautiful, spotless, runs fantastic, brand-new, amazing deal......we bought it. I guess it wasn't that out of the blue, since we'd been planning to buy next month, but yeah. We feel very blessed! The only thing is that it's a stick, and Ben can't drive a stick. Haha! But he shall learn! He'll pick it up fast, he's lefthanded. :) I actually love it. I normally hate large vehicles, however this is the smoothest driving truck I've ever seen. The only thing is that it's the same color as the nissan. Now we are a one-color car family. Oh well!
So the Buick is up for grabs....Brian?....Bethany?.....You guys can arm wrestle for it!

I turn 27 on Tuesday.
It's been a good year though.
Got married. It's pretty awesome.
Graduated college. About time.
Got a job. A grown up job, mind you. Like with suits and careers and everything!
Got a house. A real house! Like with floors and walls and a roof and everything!
Got a plan. A real plan! Like with goals and steps and everything!
Got healed.... For reals! Like with diagnosese(that's plural!) and prayers and everything! yeah that one was weird. so i went to the doctor back in june and i was like "so um yeah everything hurts" and she was like "so um yeah having a baby fractured your pelvis, and its dislodged and crooked, congrats, you need surgery" and i was like "um no" and then i went to the physical therapist and they were like "ok maybe we'll just put you in a brace for 6 months and do horrible experiments on you to see if we can avoid surgery" and i was like "Um no" and then i went to church and they were like "(much praying)
So it's been an eventful year, to say the least. I'm still writing my cookbook in my spare time. I got an awesome book about the science of cooking that has taught me a lot about how to create a recipe..
We're potty-training Ethan this weekend. Pray for us. A lot. All I want for my birthday is no more poopy diapers. Please.

Oh yeah I have a blog...
So yeah, Right now I'm working full time at the Best Western with Ben. I do administrative work for him and the other two managers 2-3 days a week, and I fill in at the front desk 2-3 days a week. I've been doing quite a bit of tech writing, as the GM is currently re-working the Standard Operating Procedure manual, and I really enjoy it. I wish I'd taken a few tech writing classes in college, it might have helped me in realizing i could actually involve my degree in some kind of career besides teaching, and thus I may not have taken the "quarter off"(read: 2 years) that I did. And there's money in tech writing, who knew! Anyways, that's what I've been up to.
Ethan looooves the babysitter. She has a 3 yr old boy, and those two are a pair. She also has a 1 yr old girl. I admire her greatly for taking on a 3-2-1 situation. I dont think I could handle it. ALthough maybe it helps if one is only part of the time. Ethan also talks amazingly better now that he hangs out with Elijah all day. He even tried to say "Home Depot" when he and Ben went "guy shopping" the other day. He has also reached the stage where "errands" are FUN. So if you say "Ethan go to the closet and get a towel" he thinks it is FUN and a GAME, and he will happily do it. He also thinks throwing away garbage, cleaning his room, fetching a clean shirt or pants, getting a diaper and wipes, and putting things in the kitchen sink is all FUN AND GAMES. We're enjoying this stage while it lasts.
Our house is getting close to being finished. We still have some finishing touches on the paint (YES STILL). Ben had to redo most of the trim, so that was a big project. And he has the posts up for the fence. And we just have another days work or so to do on the overhang. Our house doesn't even look the same anymore. It's amazing. We've had so many neighbors stop by and applaud our efforts. (um. lets face it. our house was the ugliest, grossest house on the block when we bought it, peeling faded paint, an overhang that was half fallen down, no grass, dead trees, broken trim, it was a disaster.) He got slowed down a bit this weekend cuz he was sick and his mean old wife made him lay down all day and eat soup instead of building a fence. But we should be all done by the end of August! ...........we hope. then we start the basement. whoa.

Sugar-Free Chocolate Milk (aside from natural milk sugars)
8 oz Milk
2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 packet splenda
STIR THOROUGHLY, dont shake, cuz the cocoa powder gets all stuck in the milk foam and doesnt blend in. This is also really good warmed up for Hot Cocoa.

Ah life..
So here's my list of things I'd like to DO during my lifetime.
- Write a cookbook & have it published.
- Write at least one truly brilliant poem.
- Memorize a truckload of scripture
- Visit Iceland
- Learn Spanish completely & fluently
- Own a nice new car
- Live in a house that is completely decorated according to my taste. Not just touches here and there, and mismatched pieces, and some rooms decorated some not. But like a whole house completely painted, accessorized, and furnished according to my taste (well our taste. my husband can have input).
- Plant a flower garden and maintain it
- dye my hair red! (why not?)
My life of things of personal development goals
- overcome fear. i would like to live a life that is not controlled by insecurity, doubt, embarrassment, mistrust, or anxiety.
- make Jesus my king. I know He's already my King, but I want it to be truly visible in me. Something that shines from the inside out.
- learn to schedule and plan. too often i fly by the seat of my pants, and things get tossed to the wayside as I run out of time for them.
- Find a job, apply to at least 4 positions per week until I get one, and follow up on said applications.
- get my house painted
- get back in the routine of working out 4-5 times a week, instead of this 1-2 times a week ridiculousness.
So there's my lists. I'll read them every couple of days and review what I'm doing to accomplish them. Some may take years, some may take months or days! We'll see!
